Pain & Truth

The following is an excerpt of a lecture from the Soliloquies, Monologues, and Asides section of the Dark Lecture Hall, at the end of which you have the option to continue reading the lecture in its entirety at the Force Academy.

From Pain & Truth, written by Darth Draeth (aka Nale)…

“Pain is the most direct gate to our inner consciousness, it is a revealer of truth that can not be deceived, or escaped, as long as it is allowed to enter our system and not erased through artificial means. And when it is present, when it is actually felt, it is the best eraser of masks and all manners of self deception.

Whenever we are honestly grieving the loss of a loved one, when our dreams seems to get soiled, or when we otherwise endure a hurtful moment, our energies are directed towards dealing with the pain. Make no mistake, pain is as debilitating as it gets, and there resides its virtue.”→Continue Reading

Living In Absolutes: Musings

The following is an excerpt from Living In Absolutes: Musings, a discussion that was posted Dark Discussion forum of the Force Academy. From the opening post written by Mortose…

“I put myself in the position of the children. I imagine for a second how it must be been to be so afraid. To see a gun pointed at me knowing my life was about to end. I feel exhilaration. I almost want to see the trigger pulled, just to know if the man behind the gun could pull it off. Just to know if he had the strength of will to kill a child that did him no wrong. I smile, licking up my own excitement. I smile again, musing at how twisted I am. How the world would see me as a monster if they only knew what sinister nature lurked behind my predatory gaze.

I remember back when a man I so well know wrapped his hands around my neck with vicious intent. A man maddened, reacting only on instinct like a cornered animal. He stared at me then, trying to intimidate me. It was like a crazed demon staring into my soul and I began to laugh. I returned his gaze and laughed, forcing my will into his mundane little head. Taunting him to kill me, to just squeeze a little tighter; to break my neck. My smile grew, threatening his attempt at cruelty. I was excited here, enticed and living only in the moment of his passionate rage; his hatred for this little bitch before him. He backed off, refusing to stare at me again. Refusing to so much as look. I felt disappointment. I was like a child starved of attention, a beast deprived of slaking its hunger for flesh. I was feeding on his hate and he knew it.

I consider the news again. There is conflict in Israel, conflict in Syria. I smile and feel my obsession growing. I desire it. I know I do and I do not feel my desire is wrong. I imagine hundreds of bombs hurdling towards Iran. I laugh. I taste my own passion; it is like fire in my mouth. It swells up from the pit of my being and burns my throat. I visualize nuclear warheads heading to The United States, to Iran, to Russia. I imagine them filling the sky; trails of hot white fire following them until the imminent point of contact with civilization. I feel joy! I feel maddening excitement! I am thrilled. For a moment I question my reaction, pondering how such an attack would mean the end of most if not all life on earth. A smile curls on my lips. I have realized I am destructive. My darkness is raw and dangerous and it goes far beyond a mere hat I wear to accomplish my goals.

I consider myself insane for the moment, breathing in the liquid fire that fills me. I know my passion is intense and my desires contrast any form of logic. I smile again, though it is a twisted smile.”→Continue Reading

Below are some highlights of the discussion, excerpts from the posts of other participants…

“…this most elegantly written experience of inner soul searching is a prime example of what I’ve admonished the Dark Aspect as lacking in the past.”
~LightningStrike (aka Charles McBride), Light Practitioner of the Force Academy

“It sounds like a weak fix. The least chaotic thing is death, as its the systems effective zero energy state. I’d say that speaks of the comfort derived from the surity generated by its finality.”
~Acanthos, Dark Student of the Force Academy

“Those who forget their ravenous nature forget true darkness. It’s an important lesson for the light because we keep that in check by placing it against its self. For the Dark it is the source of who they are.”
~LightningStrike (aka Charles McBride), Light Practitioner of the Force Academy

“Shit happens; we deal with it. It’s how you deal with it that makes you empowered or feeble. Dying is the easy part, and most LA teaching glorifies death or its equivalent – living a life of mere existence.

These dead kids may have triggered something within you, but they are neither here nor there and only serve to muddle the conversation. Consider the paradox of how the more vitality one feels the closer they are to danger of death to feel it.”
~David Edge, Dark Knight of the Force Academy

“Identifying with those who are suffering is one thing; but to conjure up an image of suffering as a means of self-indulgence is another. Let me try and spit this out plainly: the people you’re imagining suffering DON’T EXIST other than in your mind. They are projections of your ego. Oh sure, there are people who have experiences like the ones you’re describing. But be honest: YOU’RE not really encountering these people and mirroring their pain. You’re not really sharing empathically in the life experiences of someone else. You’re creating little refractions of your own self and feeding off those refactions.”
~Richard Irvine

Kill Your Gods

The following is an excerpt of a lecture from the Soliloquies, Monologues, and Asides section of the Dark Lecture Hall, at the end of which you have the option to continue reading the lecture in its entirety at the Force Academy.

From Kill Your Gods, written by Seti I Shadim…

“You studied and learned these images. You’ve read the writings from various dynasties, and fed upon their flesh. Now, these sun-bleached corpses have been picked clean, and have infected you with both their strengths and their weaknesses. Of course, you also learned their lingo along the way; darkness, power, wolves, strength, sheep, wisdom. In fact, you learned the lingo so well that you assumed you were it. It is the fallacy of repetition. Yet, it is only a fallacy when repetition leads you into error and delusion. That is the question that only you can answer. With the most vicious honesty, ask yourself if the images you cherish are helping or hindering you from your goals.”→Continue Reading

Light-Sided Sith

The following is an excerpt from a thread entitled Light Sided Sith recently posted in the General Discussion forum of the Force Academy. From the opening post written by Divarin…

“I believe a light sided sith would hate any sort of corruption and personal ambitions of individuals that interfere or even harm the state cause and would swiftly set straight if not disembowel said corrupt peoples. In a way a light sided sith would regulate the government and swiftly remove anything that harms the subjects or the overall goals of the state.

Given the nature of sith teachings any light sided sith would be arrogant, but honorable to a fault. That since of honor and drive for glory in battle do have positive effects, in my opinion a light sided sith would be and is fiercely loyal, especially to loved ones and would go to great lengths to protect them and any subordinates under him/her as they claim the glory and honor for doing so.

I wish to put my opinion on the light side version interpretation of the sith code.

Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
This one is easy enough, there are more than one kind of passion like love, righteousness, and so on. A sith does rely on emotion/passion to give them that extra temporary boost and i believe that a light side sith would draw on “good” passions and any negative emotions used would be focused and well controlled. Just because a sith relies on emotions doesn’t mean…”→Continue Reading

Below are some excerpts (i.e. samplings) from the discussion…

“Hate, fear, greed all have their uses. An individualistically driven “Order” such as the Sith are hard to speak for, nor shall I pretend to speak for all of us, but the Sith way tends to be one of pragmatism and realistic thought. But being slightly unrealistic and being unwilling to use all the tools at your disposal is a fairly Light approach.

Just personally, are you getting too tied up with the whole good/evil, niceguy/badguy mess that accompanies anything relating to light and darkness?”
~Michael, Dark Knight of the Force Academy

“This sounds like a feeble attempt at rationalizing the desire to be a Sith (either your desire to be passionate, or your desire to merely hold the title Sith) while staying in line with social expectations (doing only “good” things, regardless of your actual passions).

What this says to me is that you’ve been manipulated into keeping in line with the accepted status quo, despite a desire to do what you want.

All emotion is selfish,… regardless if it’s classified as positive or negative. “Good” emotions and “bad” emotions alike. All emotions guide you to doing that which is best, or most appropriate, for you as an individual.”
~Failed Save, Dark Apprentice of the Force Academy

“Can a person follow the sith code, and not embrace the darkness? Sure. But it won’t be an efficient use of your time. If it wasn’t a dark code, it’d be available in the Light lectures as well, no doubt.

But why get hung up on the code at all? What purpose does it have in your life to follow the Sith code, or the code of the Jedi, as opposed to the Green Lantern’s Oath, or the opening theme from Barney & Friends?”
~ShankatsuForte, Dark Knight of the Force Academy

Balance Scales & Railway Hand Cars

The following is an excerpt of a lecture from the Soliloquies, Monologues, and Asides section of the Dark Lecture Hall, at the end of which you have the option to continue reading the lecture in its entirety at the Force Academy.

From Balance Scales & Railway Hand Cars, written by Darth Draconis…

“One side of the scale will inevitably become dominant, and the other will – relative to the dominant side – appear to be weaker, but only because its opposition on the other side of the scale has become stronger. Balance accepts the validity of weakening the dominant side just as much as strengthening the weaker side. In most cases, it’s essentially an excuse not to advance. The answer for a living being, in order to thrive, is to seek greater weight, importance, and empowerment of the weaker side until it becomes dominant, and then to do the same with the other side when it has become eclipsed in strength… back and forth.

A railway hand car is nearly perfect for illustrating the difference. While it may fall short in that it’s used on a track, and with people it’s common to wander, to get derailed, or to deliberately avoid such a focused framework or movement, that’s something I’m willing to overlook because it shows that if you want forward motion… you will not get it from balance.”→Continue Reading

From I Am The Force; And So Are You, written by Michael (aka William Kaede)…

“Largely a Satanic concept, self-deification comes from a well-made point; if Man creates god(s) in his own image, then why not go one step further and pronounce myself as the god of my life? It doesn’t necessarily mean that I believe I have superpowers, but it just means that I recognise the control I have over my own life and my values. It’s a fairly self-centred philosophy, but then again, so is Satanism.”→Continue Reading
